At the Alpinhotel Jesacherhof, your outdoor adventures begin right outside the hotel door. The three-thousand-metre peaks of the Hohe Tauern National Park form the impressive backdrop to your summer holiday. Majestic views accompany you while hiking, climbing, biking, or rafting in the mountain world. A special highlight is fly fishing in our own waters.
Whether you prefer a sporty, challenging summit hike or a leisurely excursion for the whole family – the possibilities are endless. As part of our weekly programme, we also organise excursions and guided tours. And, of course, we’re always on hand to share personalised tips, having explored every nook and cranny of Defereggental ourselves.

Hiking
Hiking in the mountains is always an impressive experience. It is impossible to get tired of the sight of lush green valleys, picturesque villages, rugged peaks, and bright blue sky. Anyone who has ever climbed to a peak and felt the resulting unspeakable feeling of happiness knows what we are talking about.
You can accompany our Animateur Andi, on his tours five times a week. He knows trails of all levels of difficulty and has an exciting tale to share about every place you pass. If you prefer to go hiking without a guide, it is best to take our Alpine hiking pack with hiking equipment, maps, tour tips, and last but not least, a delicious packed lunch.
Mountain biking and e-biking
Whether you’re seeking the thrill of a mountain bike ride or the relaxed pace of an e-bike, adventures of all sorts beckon around the Jesacherhof, just waiting to stir your spirit! The Defereggen Mountains, the Rieserferner Group, the Hohe Tauern, and the Lienz Dolomites – these mountains are your playground. Well-signposted cycle paths, mountain bike trails, and downhill trails wind through the imposing natural landscape. Fragrant forests, crystal-clear mountain lakes, and rustic Alpine huts line your path.
Fly fishing
Tight lines! Hobby and sport fishers will find a true fishing paradise in the hotel’s own 25-kilometre stretch of water.
From late May to late October, we invite you to fly fish in wild and romantic mountain streams with a width ranging from 4 to 30 metres. Our in-house fishing expert, Michael Jesacher-Schneider, will personally show you around the area and give you valuable tips. Plus, find all your angling essentials in our specialised fishing shop.
Are you an enthusiastic fly fisher, but you can’t really get your family excited about it? Then the Jesacherhof is the place for you. While you make your big catch in the Schwarzach river, your partner can relax in the wellness area, and your kids can have fun with our dedicated childcare and youth programme.
