Clara mountain hut
The Clara mountain hut is located in the back of the Umbaltal valley in the Hohe Tauern National Park. It’s surrounded by numerous imposing three-thousand-metre peaks – at an altitude of 2,036 metres above sea level. To reach the hut, hike for about three hours from the Ströden car park along moderately difficult mountain trails. Once at the top, the panoramic view rewards you for your efforts.

Bergersee hut
Two hours of hiking will take you to the Bergersee hut at an altitude of 2,182 metres above sea level. The path unveils a stunning landscape and captivating views, gradually revealing themselves with every step. Once at the summit, indulge in a tranquil walk around the lake, where the stark wild rock formations juxtapose beautifully with the emerald waters, crafting an unparalleled scenic motif.

Bruggeralm mountain hut
The Bruggeralm mountain hut is only a few kilometres away from the Alpinhotel Jesacherhof. It is located in a picturesque Alpine village and enchants with a magnificent panoramic view. The kitchen offers delicious Tyrolean dishes: From Schlipfkrapfen (stuffed pasta) to a Marende (snack board) with grey cheese to Kaiserschmarrn (torn pancakes), this is an alluring place to stop. The Bruggeralm is also easily accessible by mountain bike.

Lake Anterselva/Antholz
Cross the border and take a trip to South Tyrol. Lake Anterselva/Antholz is considered the jewel of Pustertal – and once you’ve seen how the sunlight refracts in its clear water, you’ll know why. Lake Anterselva/Antholz lies at an altitude of 1,642 metres above sea level and is a wonderful hiking destination.

The Johannis mountain hut
The Johannis mountain hut in Dorfertal is a DAV refuge. Hiking routes to the impressive glaciers of the Venediger Group start from here. The hut itself is rustic and cosily furnished. Here, you can spend the night before your next big hike, take a warm shower, and enjoy the delicacies of Tyrolean cuisine.

The Jagdhausalm mountain hut
The Jagdhausalm mountain hut is situated at the largely uninhabited end of the Defereggental. Built in the 13th century, it is one of the oldest Alpine settlements in the country. The houses in the settlement are built of natural stone and are only occupied in the summer months. The extreme altitude of over 2,000m above sea level is a real challenge for the farmers and their animals.

Obersee lake
The Obersee lake is a picturesque mountain lake on the Staller Sattel pass. In early summer, gentian and Alpine roses blossom here, transforming the already impressive landscape into a picture-postcard idyll. A path leads around the lake; in winter, you can also circumnavigate the lake on cross-country skis. The Alpine inn Obersee invites you to lunch with a magnificent view.

Anras Castle
Nestled between the Villgratner Mountains and the Lienz Dolomites, Anras Castle stands in the mountain village of the same name. The sunny terrace enjoys a mild climate, and so the bishops of Brixen spent their summers in the castle for several centuries. Today, Anras Castle is a historical cultural jewel and houses a museum.

“A Voyage Through Time” Museum in Defereggental
In the centre of St. Jakob, you will find a portal to another world. Enter the music pavilion and travel back to the Ice Age. Step by step, you will experience the evolution of humanity and nature up to the modern age. View fascinating exhibits such as the finds from the hunter’s station at Hirschbichl and the approximately 1,000-year-old dugout canoe.
